NTR Planning, as planning agents for St George Property S.à.r.l., intend to submit in June 2026 a planning application for:
"Extension to the existing Designer Outlet Centre at Bridgend with 2,300 sq. m of new retail, including associated public realm and landscaping works and the addition of a single-level car park deck above the existing overflow car park."
Before submitting the application it is a statutory requirement that neighbours and statutory consultees be consulted on the proposal for a minimum of 28 days.
The proposal comprises the construction of a new retail extension to the southern end of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Centre and a raised parking deck on the existing West (Overflow) Car Park to compensate for the spaces lost to the retail extension. New areas of public realm will also be created, including the provision of rain gardens.
The new retail floorspace will operate under the same controls as the existing retail floorspace to ensure that it continues to protect the vitality and viability of established nearby retail centres.
It is likely that the development, which is proposed to be built to allow trade by Christmas in 2027, will create 30 new employment positions in Bridgend.
